Commercial
A Seattle Commercial Remodeling Checklist for Business Owners
Key questions to resolve before a build-out, from operations and access to schedule and handoff.

A commercial remodel needs to support both the physical space and the business operating inside it. A clear operational brief is the most useful place to begin.
Document how the business moves
Map customer arrival, staff circulation, deliveries, storage, equipment, cleaning, and waste. These routes reveal conflicts that a floor plan alone may not show.
Identify fixed constraints
Lease requirements, building rules, access hours, utilities, accessibility, and existing systems can shape the work. Confirm them before design decisions become expensive to change.
Build around downtime
If the business will remain partly operational, define work zones, noise limits, dust control, and handoffs. If it will close, align long-lead materials before the shutdown begins.
Define completion
Inspections, commissioning, training, and closeout documents should be part of the schedule-not tasks added after construction appears finished.
